Especially for the Vleeshal, artist Krijn de Koning designed 'Beeld voor de Vleeshal' (Sculpture for the Vleeshal). De Koning is interested in the way in which architectural surroundings influence our state of mind. He studies the way in which architure conditions and limits us, and how it affects the beauty of an object and vice versa: how an object affects our experience of the space.

Right at the entrance of the Vleeshal, a long narrow way led visitors to the back of the space, where De Koning had built an architectural sculpture from a construction of walls, passages, windows and doors. With eye for the inspiring but limiting Gothic arhitecture of the space, he turned the relationship between his work and the exhibition space around. Rather than seeing a sculpture in a space, the visitor saw the space through the sculpture. Through this, De Koning also created a parcours through the otherwise open space of the Vleeshal. The dimensions are 6 x 10 x 2.6 meters.

Simultaneously with the exhibition by Krijn de Koning in Vleeshal, a bilingual publication appeared, titled ‘Krijn de Koning. Binnen Buiten/Inside Outside’. On the occasion of this publication, a selection of De Koning’s travel photographs was shown for the first time in Vleeshal Zusterstraat. Drawings and scale models by De Koning were also presented.
