Since 2014, the official opening of Popronde Middelburg takes place in Vleeshal. The edition of 2017 was officially opened on Thursday 8 November at 19:30 by Tonnie Dieleman and Auke van Laar, followed by a concert by Dési Ducrot.*

Dési Ducrot combines her love for contemporary pop with a vintage americana sound. Her songs remind us of Florence Welch (& the Machine) and Americana hero Gillian Welch. At times small, somewhat bombastic songs but always honest and with a flair for drama. On January 26, Dési Ducrot released her debut album In Too Deep. A pop album enlaced with vintage lap steels, dobro hooks and strings. 'Dusty Springfield drama', as the singer likes to call it.
