On Friday, June 7, it's time for the second edition of Queer Cheer. In December 2023, Vleeshal organized the first edition of this queer party during Freddie Mercado's exhibition Freddie. We invited DJs and drag performers to Vleeshal to celebrate their identities together with our visitors. June is Pride Month and especially for this occasion, we are organizing Queer Cheer: Gender in the Blender. From 9pm to 1am you are welcome to join us at Vleeshal where various drag artists and DJs will perform. There will be a DJ set by Nina Ophelia and a drag performance by the Bolus Boys among others. The rest of the lineup will be announced next month.

Nina Ophelia is one half of the musical duo Designer Violence and will spin danceable 80s and 90s alternative during Queer Cheer: Gender in the Blender. The Bolus Boys are a drag duo from Zeeland and will do a special performance during the party. We will use a silent disco system which makes the party accessible for people who have sensory issues with regard to the music.

Tickets cost €6.20 and are on sale as of now. Some tickets will still be sold at the door on the night itself. Prior to the party, your Queer Cheer ticket allows you to join a ‘get ready with us’ at Vleeshal for free. With a makeup artist and drag performers, you can experiment with makeup and outfits and receive advice for optimal gender blending.

The party is organized in collaboration with Vleeshal’s queer staff and local LGBTQIA+ organizations such as PRISM, Queer in de Stad and COC Zeeland.
